It is days before Christmas and I know it is supposed to be a happy time of the year but is it really? I mean think about it this way. People are forced and pressured to spend more money on christmas shopping and to put themselves in more unnecessary debt. I think Christmas time has become too capitalized in the sense that companies step up the pressure for you to spend more money. They get extra sneaky at trying to manipulate you into buying things you don't need.
So to me Christmas doesn't feel as special as it did as a kid and it makes me wonder why people endure this. This time of the year is when people start to get overly stressed and they make themselves mentally unprepared for the new year in which they create their own new years resolution to improve their lives. Of course people fail to do it this way as they promise themselves they will go to the gym, eat better and accomplish a few more things in the year. None of these things happen and it tends to put people in a downward negative cycle that is just depressing.
If anybody is reading this perhaps the real christmas spirit would be to help those in need and to donate to charities whether it is your time or money or both. There are other people in worse situations that could truly use your help.
This Christmas day I plan to dedicate some time to the homeless and needy.
