Consider the lilies how they bloomed today. They are beautiful for a short time. But when only the tall stems remain, lo, they are ugly and pointless. And yet we have seen fit to plant them without other plants in front to hide their naked stems. Stems that persisteth far longer than the flowers themselves.
But I say unto you that the flowers are quite an eyeful. The camera is grabbed and the news shared even unto the blog: good bright July is here, the lilies have bloomed! Even Solomon Burke in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
We have orange day lilies which seem to last longer for some reason.
Beautiful pic, BTW.
Cheers.

Oh yes, daylilies are different. Their long blade-like leaves are nicer to look at before and after bloom, and some varieties bloom most of the summer. The orange ones are all over the place around here. We've got some along our stone wall. They always bloom a day or so before the Fourth.
