My high school French was a big help with guessing (hooray for multiple choice), also all the weird historical medieval novels I read as a youth, so I recognize the names of the parts of armor for battle horses, for example.
If you play it long enough, you will begin to see a few of the same words. Then you actually learn them if you didn't know them already. Every high school English teacher should promote this site!

Keep playing and you'll learn some of them. Though what use it is to know stuff like this I don't know...
