Papi ate my homework

I just thought I should post a small image of sox here to remind myself to do laundry today.
WE'RE GOIN' TO THE WORLD SERIES!
Why do I say 'we' when I am a such a lame Red Sox fan? I drop in on viewing now and then. I didn't even watch to the end last night. I was tired and wanted to get into bed with a Steinbeck novel.
So we won and here we go again. Red Sox Nation (dark green, on this map, plus Japan) will effectively secede from the union for the next week and a half, all because of some guys who play a sport in their pajamas, have weird hair, and spit a lot.
We will be overexcited and overtired. We will get less done. We will pay little attention to national and local news. We will ignore politics. We will be poor citizens. Meetings will end early. Term papers and newspaper articles will be turned in late. Test scores will drop. There will be less charity and volunteering. On sidelines and in auditoriums parents will be tuned in to small high tech devices rather than the strivings of their kids.
Production will be down! Emotions will be up! And oceans of cheap beer will be quaffed! (With fistfuls of Halloween candy.)
And all I can say to that is: GO, SOX!

All I can say is "woohoo"!

My husband stayed up to watch the game last night and will watch the series and he's not even a Sox fan (We're Braves down this way, baby). And everyone needs a really good excuse not to go to meetings, do homework, etc. I just wish the games would start earlier...

As far as my baseball consciousness is concerned, it was born in 1964, when the Cards and Yankees slugged it out in the Series. The Red Sox came along in 1967 and afterwards, as a seven year old, I read Bob Gibson's and Yaz' autobiographies. Consequently, I couldn't feel overly bad about the Bosox handing us our hats a few years ago.
I wish them well, if for no other reason than the Rockies haven't been around long enough.
Cheers.

Lorianne means Wahoo (just kidding a fellow Buckeye).
Amy, Red Sox Nation welcomes all members (back) to the fold...it's the most wonderful time of the year! Here's to a four and out and another World Series.
LET'S GO RED SOX.

Take your shoes off.
Put your feet up.
It's time to meet up
With the Boston Red Sox.
Boston-born and Boston-bred Sox.
Sit back, Relax,
And be a Sox watcher.

I can watch the Sox past my feet in socks propped on the coffee table, nice.
